Explaining New Years to a 3 year old

As a parent you are given the responsibility of teaching your children about various holidays.
Christmas: Fat guy is going to come down the chimney, but its ok he has toys for you. Oh, and that red bright glow out your window is just the nose of his lead reindeer. We do this to celebrate Jesus's birthday.
Easter: Look for eggs that this freakishly oversized rabbit left for you. It's ok, it has toys for you. We do this to celebrate Jesus's death. No, it's not sad. Go find your eggs.
Thanksgiving: We take time to talk about what we are thankful for. Eating a lot, including turkey, helps us be thankful. Sorry,no gifts. Good news, there is a parade.

New Years: It's the end of the year. It's not as bad as the Mayan thought, it's just then end of this year and beginning of next. Sorry, no gifts. You still have all your new Christmas toys. Try to sleep in, mommy and daddy are tired. It is important to use inside voice today. Don't ask why, just be quite. Good news, there is a parade!

Happy new year.
